“Thanks for the amazing day you provided to myself and Andrew ( AKA Boris ). This was the perfect way to experience spearfishing as a novice looking to get into the sport. We learnt so much over the course of the day, and it was all done in a very relaxed and natural manner. We knew we were in good hands from the off.

The day provided us with a comprehensive understanding of Spearfishing with safety being paramount. It was a real eye-opener for someone who likes to be self-taught. I quickly realised this is not a teach yourself sport!

Having the use of the RIB ensured we were taken to some breath-taking spots and not limited to shore dives. We spent a considerable amount of time in the water and used the day to the full.

To return with some fantastic treats to eat was a brilliant way to end the day. Nothing tastes finer than something you have personally sourced from the sea in such a thrilling way.

I cannot recommend highly enough the merits of working with Maxime, from a complete beginner to an experienced spearo, you’re in exceptionally good hands.

Everything provided was first class, from the instruction, the equipment and the local knowledge. We can’t wait to return in 2018.”

Our day of spearfishing along the South Devon coast with Maxime Blondel (aka The Frenchman) and his experienced fellow spearfisher, Kory, was a truly awesome experience! Setting out on Max’s rib at 8am and finishing at 6pm, the day was packed with a decent variety of dive sites and underwater terrains, including initial safety training, tide and current awareness, freediving techniques, traditional spearfishing practices, foraging and species awareness.

Max’s extensive experience of spearfishing in tidal waters put us greatly at ease, and we felt safe in his hands.

We benefited hugely from Max’s wealth of knowledge and experience! Having only recently got into freediving and with no previous spearfishing experience, the highlights of the day for me were feeling comfortable and supported to dive at depth in the sea and learning about how and where various fish species are to be found.

“Catch of the Day” included a big Wrasse, Spider crabs and plenty of scallops, all of which we ate in our caravan that evening! Spearfishing is an unusual and very exhilarating sport, and I’ll definitely be doing it again!

Wow. What a day! A day spearfishng was suggested by my brother Chris so my son Oli, Chris and myself booked our Spearfishing course with The Frenchman.

From the off it was clear we were in safe and experienced hands with safety and equipment briefing on land followed by further safety and diving training in the sea.

It then wasn’t long before we were doing our first dives and spearfishing ourselves and actually catching fish! A brilliant day for anyone seeking adventure and an awesome experience never to be forgotten.

By the end of the day we were diving to depths of just under 10meters which I would never have dreamt of doing without an air-tank!

We will be back for more! Thanks for a great day Frenchman.
